Typhoid Vaccine

service-hepatitis The typhoid vaccine is recommended for patients over 2 years of age, visiting areas where typhoid is endemic, particularly if they will be staying with or visiting the local population, or if there will be frequent and/or prolonged exposure to conditions where sanitation and food hygiene are likely to be poor. If travelling to an area where there is a risk of contracting typhoid fever you should get vaccinated at least two weeks before travel. It can also be given closer to your travel date but this leaves you at a greater risk of contracting the disease. The typhoid vaccine is administered as a single intramuscular dose into the deltoid region. The typhoid vaccine protects you for three years. After that, you will need a booster if you travel to a risk area. When you arrive at the pharmacy you will be required to fill in a consent form with a short questionnaire to see if you fit the inclusion criteria for the vaccine. The form can be downloaded to view and fill in before your appointment.
